|smiley_laydee||08:20 pm - Noises and biting|
I wonder if you could help!Thanks.
We've had our first guinea pigs now for almost a week. They're about 8 weeks old, and we're having trouble with one of them, called Rodney.
He seems to object to being picked up at the moment. He seems fine for a minute or two, after which he's nipping and trying to butt my hands with his head. Can anyone advise how to proceed? Is it a matter of persisting with him and letting him know who's boss? (he's slightly bigger than the other, so seems to me more dominant) or is it a matter of giving him space and letting him calm down? I'm worried about doing that, as his brother Chuck seems to like being handled, and I don't want to stop picking up Chuck just because of Rodney, or let it seem that we favour Chuck by only picking him up.

|nuvolaluz||10:13 pm - cancer|
A while back, my dear Artemis had surgery to remove to cancerous lumps, and she was free for over a year, but recently I noted that the lumps are forming again. Almost too small to notice, but definitely there.
Artemis is almost six years old but has never had any other medical problems, still eats very well and is a beautiful little almond of fur.
I was wondering if anyone here has had their guinea pig survive two operations?

|sherlock2040||09:23 pm - Biting Guinea Pig Help|
I have a bit of a problem with a biting guinea-pig.
He's not biting for any particular reason (not angry, scared etc...), sometimes I think it's his way of letting me know he wants to go back to the cage but other times when he sinks his teeth in and won't let go... I'm not so sure. I can cope quite easily with him, I wear long sleeves and when he makes his move to grab my finger or something I just move it out of the way... but today he's taken a nice chunk out of my ear (believe me, hearing something bite through cartilage is not a pleasant experience!).
I got him as a rescue pig and all I really know about his history is that he was a stray guinea-pig. They thought he was about six months old and he really is a cuddle bug (when cuddled he spreads out and loves you to rub behind his ears and under his chin) which makes the biting thing a bit frustrating.
Any got any suggestions?
